In Pontrieux, Petite Cité de Caractère®, where exploring is a must, Audrey offers one-hour trips in an electric boat.  A tour on the water, with plenty of places to see and things to discover -  the port, the Natura 2000 area and Pontrieux viaduct - at your own pace or on a treasure hunt.

Be a real sailor on a Ptits Bateaux du Trieux trip

There’s a fun way to discover the Trieux river around the Château de la Roche-Jagu and also the centre of PontrieuxAudrey offers electric boat hire, with no licence required.  All for €35 per hour, with 5 places on board.  "It's all about sailing and having fun on the water, rather than just sightseeing," she tells us.  Boarding is from the Ploëzal bank in the port of Pontrieux.  There are 4 boats available for hire, for all ages. You can even bring your dog!

For the lucky ones who are on the river two hours before or after high tide, Pontrieux lock opens to allow large boats to enter.  The chance to navigate like a real sailor among big sailboats.

A tranquil trip

You don’t need to be a seasoned sailor - the trip is suitable for everyone, including budding seafarers dreaming of far-flung voyages.  It’s a particularly relaxing activity, as the boat’s maximum speed is 10 km per hour between the Pontrieux viaduct, the boats in the port and the classified Natura 2000 conservation area which aims to preserve the biodiversity of the area.  The beautiful surroundings and the leisurely speed of the boat favour observation and quiet contemplation along the winding path of the Trieux. The electric motors are extremely quiet, and enable the visitor to observe the local birdlife and explore the river in a peaceful way.

A treasure hunt along the water

A treasure hunt has been devised for children from around 8 to 13.  Questions about a mysterious beast which is reputed to guard the Trieux are dotted around on signs, visible from several points along the river.
